Clio sighed. “That’s sun as in s-u-n, not s-o-n, but it’s still applicable. This is not the best poetry ever written, but I thought the task was pretty clear.”

Mellie held up a hand. “It’s not clear to me. The sun can’t smile. It’s obviously being personified. Who represents the sun in the poem?” Mellie asked.

“Apollo,” the eight other Muses said together.

“Apollo is the God of the Sun, as well as the God of Healing,” Clio explained. “I don’t want to give everyone a history lesson, but Apollo’s curriculum vitae boasts an impressive number of “God of this or that” credentials. His list of accomplishments is longer than even Athena’s.”

Yes. Yes. My twin was more accomplished than me. Let’s tell everyone.

Besides being the “chosen” Goddess of War for our pantheon, Athena was also the Goddess of Weaving and a bunch of other stuff no one cared about. She told me she hated most things Zeus made her learn, though even she had to admit her artist skills were spectacular.

Could the even more accomplished Apollo make a statue that looked like a real Dragon? I seriously doubted it.

Maybe after this prophecy work was done, I’d add Goddess of Kicking My Family’s Butt to my credentials. Or Goddess of Not Killing People Who Deserve It. That sounded good too.

“Apollo is dreamy to look at and so much fun to hang out with,” Era, the Goddess of Love Poetry, said with a big smile before drifting off into one of her many daydreams.

“You’re not allowed to find him dreamy, Era. Apollo’s related to you. It’s bad enough that most members of the Greek pantheon have a male parent in common. Let’s not add to that weirdness,” I warned.

Era smirked at me. “That wasn’t what I meant, but, honestly, Atlanta, Apollo is the perfect male. Wait until you meet him. Then you’ll see what I mean. He’s as arrogant as Father but incredibly nice about it. And he’s so entertaining. I simply love hanging out with him.”

I rolled my eyes at Era’s flowery praise of the man I was heading to meet. No child born from Zeus’s loins stood even the slightest chance of being perfect. So I wasn’t buying what Era was selling.

The only perfect male I ever met was still glaring at my body while he tried to recall having sex with me. But if that ideal male kept staring at me like I’d done something wrong in being discreet about our relationship status changing, I was going to lose it right here.

I absolutely was going to whip out one of my energy swords and redecorate the conference room with his body parts—even the ones I liked.

Having to apologize to so many people—and so often—was getting to me. I needed a distraction from my bloodthirsty thoughts… and like now.

I cleared my throat. “My interpretation of stanza five is that it means I have to return the omphalos stone to Apollo so he and Priestess Pythia can start up the Oracle of Delphi again.
